The Peaceful Unification Advisory Council is a constitutional advisory body supporting the President of the Republic of Korea on policy for peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula, and it runs youth programs and contests to deepen understanding of division among younger generations. I entered this space as a creator and photographer rather than a policy expert, asking what division actually looks like in ordinary landscapes, and how to picture unification without relying on slogans.

These questions carried into how I approach North Korea in later work: at the UN Memorial Cemetery, in Hiroshima, and in my reporting for Leaders Times.
