Jurio: Korean Labor Rights App

Jurio was created to make Korean labor law more accessible to people without legal backgrounds, including non-Korean speakers such as the migrant workers I work with at the Mission Center for Migrants. The app provides simply worded legal information. It is not a substitute for professional legal advice: for a specific situation, it directs users to nearby certified labor attorneys, public counseling services, and relevant hotlines.

My contributions

• Co-created Jurio with developer Alex Lee, defining the app structure and repeatedly testing whether its legal guides, glossary, referral resources, and community features met workers’ practical needs.
• Researched and wrote the plain-language content, including a bilingual glossary of more than 100 Korean labor-law terms and a know-your-rights guide, with each entry linked to the relevant statute or official legal source.
• Reviewed and refined the English translations for migrant workers and English-speaking readers, and gathered official labor hotlines and directories through which users could find qualified labor attorneys.
• Led the app’s branding and content design: completed a trademark search before selecting the name Jurio, designed the logo, and reviewed the Korean and English UX, UI, and copy for clarity and accessibility.
• Coordinated multiple App Store review cycles and communicated with developers to address Apple’s user-generated-content requirements, including pre-login EULA consent, content filtering, reporting and blocking tools, immediate post removal, and a 24-hour moderation policy.
